Hop on board for a ride

You can go sightseeing in the city of Kuopio by various means of transportartion. A tour in an old-time horse cab or on a street train is a leisurely way of enjoying a summer day. Conventional sightseeing tours by bus are available throughout the year by prior booking through Kuopio Tourist Service Ltd, where also guides of the Kuopio Guides Association (Kuopion Oppaat ry) can be reserved. Guided tours are also available in Varkaus and Iisalmi.

Remember also cruises that provide Lakeland sceneries at its best (late May – Aug)!

Horse Cab
An old-time horse cab stands ready for service on the corner of  Haapaniemenkatu street and Tulliportinkatu street.
 The cab is available from early May to late August Mon-Sat 10-16/17 and other times by agreement.
Fare: € 40 per hour or by agreement.

Location.

Street train

The street train makes tours to the Passenger Harbour and from there via the park area of Väinölänniemi back to the centre. The train has a pre-recorded commentary in Finnish and English.
The Street Train runs 6 June – 13 Aug Mon-Sat. The train leaves from the Market Place: 9.25am, 10.25am, 11.25am, 12.25pm, 1.25pm, 2.25pm, 3.25pm. 
Fare: € 6. Children under 12 yrs € 4.
