Pielavesi

Pielavesi was founded in 1873, and there are 5,140 inhabitants in the municipality. Pielavesi is known for the picturesque and clean nature, and the birth house of the former President Urho Kekkonen known as Lepikon Torppa. The sports lovers can enjoy skiing, ski jumping, downhill skiing, and hiking in the outdoor recreation area Urkinmäet. Lampaanjoki river has become a popular place for fishing, where trout, grayling, and rainbow trout can be caught. There are two comfortable built-in shelters for relaxing and grilling sausages by the riverside, as well as ramps to launch a boat in the water. The river can be explored by canoe or by boat.
