Keitele is an industrious municipality of 3,000 inhabitants, located 100 km north of Kuopio. Magnificent ridge formations and a large number of lakes and rivers are the trademark of Keitele. Nilakka and Koutajärvi are the largest lakes in the area. In addition, there are several river routes for boating and leisure fishing in awesome scenery. Keitele is the starting point of Rautalampi boat route, and it is one of the cleanest water routes in Finland.
