The Kuopio region boasts an extensive network of nearly 1,100 kilometres of maintained snowmobile routes. The LumiSavo Snowmobile Route Network in the districts of Kuopio, Siilinjärvi, Vehmersalmi, Nilsiä, Juankoski, Kaavi, Rautavaara and Tuusniemi comprises 650 kilometres of maintained routes. A route of over 60 kilometres runs between Kuopio and Leppävirta. There is also a route from Siilinjärvi to Kuopio and to the Tahko Ski Resort in Nilsiä, and from the Metsäkartano Hotel situated in Rautavaara to Sotkamo.
