Puijo is the best-known cross-country ski area in Kuopio with its 40 kilometres of largely illuminated tracks for both recreational and competitive use. Tahko Holiday Resort in Nilsiä has over 60 kilometers of tracks. For beginners it is easiest to try cross-country skiing on lake ice.
