Lots of international colour in Finland Ice Marathon
The weather forecast promises great weather conditions for the international marathon skating event Finland Ice Marathon in Kuopio on 22nd-25th of February. The weather forecast for the actual race day on Saturday 25th promises dry weather and temperatures slightly under zero Celsius. Saturday will definitely be a great skating day. There will be 7,5 km track for the race day.
Participants list starts to fill up. So far there are participants from thirteen different nationalities registered. The utmost visitors are from Southern Africa and China, but the traditional skating countries such as Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Russia are well represented. Finnish Championship races on marathon skating are also held, but the greatest part of participants are simply skating for motion and fun and the great scenery.
There are three thousand children and youngsters listed for both days at the skating event for school children on Wednesday and Thursday 22-23rd. On Friday 24th Moonlight skating night gathers everyone to skate on lumberjack candle lid 2 km ice track and enjoy the Ice Disco. There´s also Minimarathon event for children and lots of activities also for spectators to enjoy at the Kuopio Passanger Harbour.
